Kangaroo Island, an isolated island of tranquillity, beauty and an abundance of wildlife, is a sanctuary without fences for rare bird life, tammer wallabies, short-beaked echidnas, kangaroos, koalas and more. It is a haven and natural habitat for platypus, albatross, leafy-sea dragons, goannas, glossy black cockatoos, bush-tailed possums and black tiger snakes. It has a colony of the smallest penquins in the world.

Enjoy the Mediterranean climate with mild conditions in winter and summer, with an average temperature in summer of 25°, but sometimes warmer clothes will be needed in the evenings due to cool southern sea breezes. It has a population of 4.300, happy, friendly locals and small townships.
You can take a self-guided tour of the island by car, a coach journey, a 4WD adventure, boat trip or fishing charter. Bicycle rentals are available on Kangaroo Island, also cars can be hired in Adelaide or on Kangaroo Island. Get back to nature amongst native bushlands and wildlife. Take a guided quad bike tour amongst bushlandd see koalas, kangaroos, echidnas and more. You can go on a mountain bike ride, view romantic sunsets, explore shipwrecks, go swimming, fishing, surfing or beachcombing at Vivonne Beach or go on a wine tasting tour at the many wineries on the Island. 
Visit Kingscote, the Islands largest town, which overlooks the Nepean Bay and is the centre for tourism and shopping. You can fish on the jetty, take a tour at dusk to see the little penguins, visit the local aquarium with its giant cuttlefish, seahorses, reef fish and litttle penguins, watch pelicans feeding at the jetty every day in the afternoon and browse the souvenir shops. The town also has a swimming pool,sports center, two art galleries, restaurants and cafes for dining. The bright, bustling town is an ideal place to visit on Kangaroo Island.
